I had a 3 year old cockapoo called Rosie. She was so nervous and reactive to everything. She is a rescue dog from a DV relationship. I honestly thought that i would be able to take her out on a lead let alone running free over the park. I was given a contact number for Cardiff k9 training. When Steve came to my house the first time, Rosie tried to bite his feet. Then we took Rosie out on the lead. Rosie growled and people outside, she growled and went to bite other dogs. Steve came on 5 occasions and now Rosie is off lead over the park, she comes back when called and plays with other dogs. Steve is a brilliant dog trainer, if I have any problems I can just message him. My 9 year old grandson helps with training Rosie too.I would definitely recommend Cardiff k9 training. We loved Steve’s no nonsense approach. Simple instructions, but instant results. Our 6 month golden retriever has a very strong will and even stronger pull! We gained confidence to have her off lead, her recall is so good strangers comment on it and her lead walking is so much better. After seeing multiple behaviorists with no success, we were at a breaking point with our miniature wire-haired dachshund. We contacted Steve from K9 primarily with aggression problems. Three lessons with Steve changed everything for us. The most important thing he did wasn't just 'fixing' a behaviour; it was changing how we saw our dog. He helped us realize that Cheky isn't a 'nasty' dog and his aggression wasn't a bad character—we simply didn't understand his nature. So grateful to Steve for helping us manage our Cockapoos anxiety driven behaviours which have previously been treated with sedatives by our vet. I highly recommend! I had 5 1:1 sessions to help with my reactive french bulldog. Learned so many tips through these and Steve was always on hand via WhatsApp to answer any questions and help give feedback/tips after a bad walk. We had a great experience with Steve, he helped with our reactive older dog Jeff who previously could only walk on lead with a muzzle at night, and helped with resource guarding and food aggression. Within a month, we had him walking without a muzzle on a longline lead, and most importantly enjoying his life! He helped put a plan in place to help us in the home to create boundaries and reduce reactivity, and was always available via WhatsApp for any support throughout the process. His approach was tailored to our unique circumstances (we have another dog), which is something you just don’t get with online coaching. Couldn't recommend more - thanks so much.

At the turn of the year after one attempt at finding a trainer for our eight month old cocker spaniel puppy we decided to give Steve a message and book in a block of three lessons to work on his recall and some basic lead work. Even before the first session ended we could already see a drastic improvement in Spencer’s recall and Steve was great in talking to us through what drills we need to work on and how we should interact with the dog to get the best result. With the in person lessons and the support over the phone with Steve in a short period of time we have now got our cocker spaniel Puppy off the lead fully and he is even recalling away from distractions in busy parks. At the end of our block sessions with Steve, we asked if we could have a short go at tackling Spencer’s pulling on the lead. After one session we have seen drastic improvements and will be visiting Steve again to work on this further! We can’t recommend Steve enough, he is a trainer who knows what he is doing and more importantly is very good in working with the owners and tailoring the training to them.

Steve has been able to help us with our working breed puppy. From the day we brought Red home at 8 weeks old to now a puppy class graduate and sit champion. Steve has been really responsive and helpful throughout our entire puppy training. We now have a very impressive 25kg 7 month old Doberman puppy who loose lead walks, all the basic commands down and is sociable with other dogs. We plan to continue our training now going into recall training.

We were struggling with a few things with our new dog (7 months old) ..Not settling, jumping up on people upon entering the house and separation anxiety, we were unable to leave her for seconds let alone minutes! Our training methods are based on positive reinforcement techniques. We believe in rewarding desired behaviours, which helps build a strong bond between you and your dog. Our methods are designed to be humane, effective, and enjoyable for both dogs and their owners.

Each training session typically lasts 60 minutes. This duration allows sufficient time for practice without overwhelming the dog. We find this length helps maintain high levels of concentration and effectiveness. 

We start training puppies as young as 8 weeks old, focusing initially on simple commands and socialisation. However, it’s never too late to start training, as we offer programs tailored to dogs of all ages and at any stage of their life. 

We offer both group training classes and private sessions. Our group classes are great for socialisation and learning in a dynamic environment, while private sessions are ideal for addressing specific behavioural issues or for dogs who may not thrive in a group setting. 

Yes, we cover all behavioural modification for various issues including aggression, anxiety, excessive barking and more. We assess each case individually and develop a personalised training plan based on the dog’s specific needs and the owner’s goals.

We have just completed a six week puppy training class with Steve and Cardiff K9 training. The communication before the class was excellent and included a personal phone call with Steve. The location of the class was very convenient for us with good parking and the class size is small which enables lots of input with your dog. Steve's puppy classes were great! Our Reggie was an anxious pup but Steve was really patient and didn't push it with him and his confidence has now grown massively! Worked with Cardiff K9 (Steve) on his Transformation package after contacting him when I’d pretty much lost all hope. My rescue dogs reactivity was out of control, I felt like I was failing her, every walk ended in tears and frustration. I lost all confidence and hope and genuinely didn’t know if she’d ever be able to enjoy life, I was in the absolute trenches of dog ownership with no hope at all and now I can look back at those days with so much pride knowing how far we’ve come. Steve is amazing; He is friendly and has great communication, he keeps regular updates on the training school website with loads of videos and information to help you on your journey. I started working with Steve on resource guarding with my dog and a tennis ball. He provided a step by step plan and 121 sessions, I really liked that he was upfront about what method he thinks works and realistic that it wasn’t a quick fix and required time, I appreciated his honesty and experience. He provided a clear 30 day programme that slowly but surely worked! Months later I can still manage my dog with the ball and even enjoy playing with him again. He also helped with anxious barking at our home, my dog listened straight away to the command. Steve also provided WhatsApp support if I needed to check something or ask a question.
